Feeling Seen: The Impact of the Confident Caregiver Series

Our Stories Advice on Aging 1 min read , December 15, 2025

November was National Family Caregivers Month, making it the perfect time for us to give back and think about the needs of informal and unpaid caregivers in our community. This fall, Thryve came together with community partners to host and provide the Confident Caregiver Series, a multi-session educational and connection-focused program designed to support caregivers navigating the often unexpected and isolating journey of caring for a loved one.

The series reached 16 caregivers in total, with participants joining both in person and virtually, allowing greater access and flexibility. While education was a key component, what stood out most was the sense of connection caregivers built with one another.

Caregivers repeatedly shared that they felt less alone, more understood, and more confident after each session. Many noted they were extremely likely to tell a friend or family member about the series, recognizing how valuable this type of support can be for others walking a similar path.

One participant captured the heart of the experience simply and powerfully:

“I feel seen.”

Another caregiver reflected on how closely the sessions aligned with their real-life experience:

“As a fairly new caregiver, all the information I received matched perfectly to what I’ve been learning. I’ve grown tremendously in this unexpected path with the help of caregiver support sessions like this.”

Beyond the educational sessions themselves, caregivers were invited to share lunch together after each in-person gathering. These meals created intentional time for conversation, reflection, and relationship-building in a relaxed, welcoming environment. For many, this informal connection time was just as meaningful as the content—offering space to talk openly, exchange experiences, and build community.

The Confident Caregiver Series offered more than information—it created a safe, supportive space where caregivers could learn, connect, and feel truly understood. Topics spanned practical tools, emotional support, and community resources, while leaving room for peer connection and shared experience.

Caregiving can feel overwhelming, isolating, and lonely—especially when the role arrives unexpectedly. Programs like the Confident Caregiver Series remind caregivers that they are not alone, their experiences matter, and support is available.

Because of the strong response and meaningful impact, Thryve plans to continue offering caregiver-focused programming as part of our ongoing commitment to reducing social isolation and strengthening community connection.

Sometimes, simply being seen makes all the difference.
